History

Founded in Sint-Amandsberg by Gustaaf Block in 1939.

Gustaaf’s father Louis Block taught him the trade of smith on the Antwerpsesteenweg in Lochristi. Their activities expanded from ornamental ironwork and shoeing horses to installing heating pipes and boilers in the greenhouses of the local ornamental floriculturalists.

After marrying Ines Dias, Gustaaf Block moved to Sint-Amandsberg to start his own business. BLOCKDIAS was born.
He designed new types of boiler for burning coal and light and heavy fuel oil. He also designed his own light fuel oil burner, the AMANDIA.
BLOCKDIAS also supplied completely finished installations for the agricultural sector.

After the early death of Gustaaf Block in 1960, his widow took up the reins temporarily until the next generation came along seven years later.

The limited liability company of BLOCKDIAS was set up in 1978. Its boiler manufacturing activity expanded into greater power ratings, and more and more complete central heating installations were put in place in industry, in government buildings schools, private homes, etc.

The company was taken over in 2007 by ir. Joost Noels, who had been working for the company as head of the boiler manufacturing department since 2003. His experience and his relationship with the company guarantee a seamless continuation of the tradition of years of quality and faultless service. BLOCKDIAS can therefore rely on a tightly-knit team consisting of a combination of experienced staff with young and dynamic talent.
